About Donna Balancia
Donna has worked in journalism since 1980 while attending Iona College in New Rochelle, N.Y. She started at Gannett Westchester Newspapers and United Press International in NYC. Donna gained her experience – and personality – from working with the legendary sports writers
in New York City to the top photo editors at the wire services and has interviewed movie stars, politicians, business people and those with a story to tell.
Donna is an editor, publisher and investigative reporter who has covered everything from The New York Giants and The New Jersey Generals of the USFL to New York City’s Mayor Koch, the disco scene of NYC, tourism, real estate, and business.
In Southern California, Donna covered the San Diego Padres and San Diego State football and basketball and went on to work in Hollywood covering entertainment, real estate and business for a variety of publications.
In Florida, Donna covered tourism and the food and lodging industry, as well as NASA’s Kennedy Space Center Vistor Complex and Port Canaveral and their impact on Florida’s economy.
Donna considers the technology of communication to be ever-changing and has acted as a consultant with the top news organizations to use the most modern means of getting the point across. She was part of a consulting team that launched corporate websites for a variety of specialty media, including those in the entertainment, lifestyle and business niches in the U.S. and abroad.
Donna has traveled the world extensively on assignment. She was assigned to the Far East to cover global industry and produce new stories, transmitting culture, entertainment, business and technology stories from Shanghai, and Hangzhou, China; Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia, as well as Hong Kong and the newest gambling hub, Macau.
Donna’s articles covering technology and biotechnology sectors earned her praise from editors and a roster of corporate technology clients.
